Guppy Fry when i’m on vacation.

Hi everyone! I am super excited about my first batch of full red albino guppies but im in a bit of a predicament. In about a month I will be leaving to go on vacation for one week, from reading up on guppy fry it’s recommended that I feed 4-5 times a day. What is the best way to keep them alive? Usually I‘ve had sucess fasting my fish a whole week but i’ve never delt with fry before. Should I get my aunt to take care or use an auto feeder? Thanks in advance. Ps they are about one day old in this picture .

In about a months time they should be big enough to not be too concerned about.

How do the club sponsored auctions work?

Trying to understand how the auctions work. Each fish comes up for bid by auctioneer and bidding closes then next fish and so forth? With my schedule, long drive, etc., wondering if I have to block off my schedule for 12 hours to have a chance at getting fish I want. Tia

You've got the basic order right. Here are a few other details. Bagged fish and plants are grouped by type and displayed for bidders to inspect. Runners use their judgment to select the next item up for bid. I'm told they tend to "mix it up" so there are not long stretches of similar items.

Finally and perhaps most important in your case, anyone may purchase a "bump-up" which gets applied to the item of your choice. This moves it to the front of the line, short of any other bump-ups in the queue. This year a bump-up was $2 (I've only been to the one auction). In fact, my wife and I used a bump-up on an item we wanted. It was auctioned within 10 mins after.

EDIT: more auction info is at https://www.pvas.com/auctions The most pertinent info to your question is at the very bottom of the page.

Back into Fishkeeping

I'm back into the hobby after a two decade break, finding this last year was the perfect time to get back into it with a 3 year old fascinated by fish and plenty of time on my hands. My wife also likes the look of what I came up with, so it's here to stay provided it's just the one aquarium! As a concept I wanted it to be planted, look good as a focal point in our living room, and wanted to focus on native stream fish like the ones I caught when I was a kid. I will say there's some really nice options with the pumps/filtration/lights/wavemaker I wish I had 20 years ago.

This is what I've built out:

70 gallons

Fluval Plant 3.0 LED light

1 Fluval 407 (Standard sponges, filter floss, 2.5 trays of seachem matrix + the bio rings it came with, 2 bags…

Darters seem to be out of the question. Still evaluating whether the American Flagfish would work out as part of the cleanup crew. A few places seem to be saying they do fine with shrimp - only a danger to them while they're tiny.

Edit: Going to try a single male American Flagfish and a Siamese Algae Eater. Seems they both do fine solo and that minimizes the chances of territorial aggression.

Best area store for freshwater plants?

I'm starting up a planted tank (new to the hobby) and haven't had the best luck shipping in plants. I've been hesitant to go to a local store because of the pandemic. Stores don't really seem to detail their plant selection on their websites and I don't feel comfortable shopping around multiple stores, in-person at the moment. Out of the fish stores listed on the Resource page, are there any that offer a particularly noteworthy selection of, or have any focus directed toward freshwater aquarium plants? Or do you just have to hit up multiple stores to see what they have?

Thanks for the help!

I think your best bet is to get plants from local fishkeepers. But if you want to go to a store, I'd suggest Londontowne Tropicals near Annapolis or Nova Tropicals in Dale City.
