Nice to meet you all

My name is Rafael, but can call me Rafa if you like. I've been in the hobby for almost 15 years where I have kept all sorts of fish ( from small neons to a red face piranhas). I'm so glad I was able to find this group where I can share some of my experiences and experiments like this one.

I called it "the neon world". Here, I'm try to experiment growing plants on top using the water nutrients from the tank.

Hope you like it.

If you have any questions on how I built this setup, I'll be more than glad to answer

Wow nice set up, very pretty.

Hello, new freshwater aspiring breeder

Hello, My name is Matt from Stephens City, Va. and I have recently gotten bit by the fish keeping bug. I currently have 4 tanks and hope to build that up to 20+ eventually and get into breeding. I hope to breed L144 longfins, Black Rams, Orange Flash Apistos, Chindongo Saulosi, Blue Dream Neos and Full gold guppies as soon as fund allow. I don't have pairs of any of these yet so it might be awhile as funds and sources allow. I look forward to learning from the club and getting involved when possible. I hope to meet some people who liking talking fish as much as me. Unfortunately I missed the recent swap as I found out about it the day of near the end but maybe I can make some future events.

@Finzz Thanks Don! Just ordered 4 Longfin Blue Eyed Lemon Bristlenose from Aquahuna and should get them this week. Hoping a safe journey for those guys and a start to my foray into growing out my first potential breeders.

Hello PVAS!

Hi, I'm David Prentiss in DC and I'm looking forward to asking you all a million questions! Attached, is a photo of the ten-gallon I just set up to attempt breeding Endler's. I hope to find my starter colony at the next auction.

Happy spring!

Dave

My wife and I are really looking forward to auction! We're definitely interested in casual live-bearer breeding in a 10-gallon. I suppose we're most likely to purchase culls/mixed since we're new to the hobby. But who knows, we may see a trio of fancy ones and go for broke!

Is there anywhere else on the forum I should post to encourage folks to bring Endler's to the auction?

Thanks!

Dave

Hi, I'm Mustafa

Hi, I’m Mustafa and I set up my first aquarium as a pandemic hobby to share with my young kids in May, 2020. I have a 29 gallon community tank with 1 dwarf gourami, 1 rainbow shark, 1 tiger barb, 2 panda cory catfish, a sorority of 5 female bettas, a school of 7 serpae tetras and 2 snails.

I also have a 3.5 gallon that I used to incarcerate a murderous blue gourami. I hoped the Buddha would help him find inner-peace, but it didn't work out. After he was rehomed, it became a hospital tank.

Like many, I started out with a single male betta, now deceased. RIP Mewtwo ☹

I recently added surface plants and am ecstatic with the results. Whereas previously most of the fish spent almost all their time in the bottom 3rd of the water column, now there is activity everywhere in the tank…
