Here is a video version of the lightning talk presentation made for PVAS on "Filming Fish 101." Slides are combined with live video to provide more details on how to begin sharing your aquatic life via video. (12 minutes)
Here is just the closing demonstration video prepared as the illustration for the "lightning talk." (2.5 minutes)
Below are some elementary tips for beginners who are interested in shooting, editing and sharing aquatic videos.

SHOOTING TIPS
Minimize background lighting
Avoid reflections on your aquarium
Top off your tank before filming
Clean off your glass inside and out
Use a stand or tripod to steady your camera
Use a gyro-balanced gimbal for moving shots
Minimize background noise
Film in landscape
Use high definition if possible (1080 p)
Shoot different shots for "B-roll" usage
Film shots a bit longer than you think you'll use
Take shots up close as well as standing back
EDITING BASICS
Search for answers online and watch YouTube "how to" videos
Audio quality can make or break a video
Use a dedicated mic for speaking or interviews
Shooting ratio between filming versus final cut can be high (10:1)
Planning is good, but leave room for impromptu ideas
Make use of "B-roll" (supplemental footage) as well as the main story shots
Rate of change between shots is often faster than you would think
Carefully study what other aquarists have done with filming
Always remember that audio can be separated from video
Use of a soundtrack (though easily overdone) can be attractive
Be sure what you use is royalty free, public domain, or fair use
Editing time vs final cut length can easily become a 10:1 ratio
SHARING STRATEGIES
Decide on a video sharing platform
Plan towards your personal goals and audience
Decide how much feedback you want to deal with
YouTube and VIMEO files can be shared via URL
Most aquatics forums are good places to share
Remember that most viewers watch only 60 seconds or less
Take a screenshot from your film for a thumbnail
Film what you enjoy and would want to watch for yourself
Connect with and encourage others who share
Set up a manageable rhythm for yourself
Keep on learning by studying others
Be patient with yourself, your skills, your videos
