The PVAS Foundation, Inc was instrumental in recently purchasing 27 hectares at this location. Here is a blog post covering the recent windstorm and subsequent damage.

That's a fascinating report. Thanks for the link!
We use this location as a base camp for our January/February fish collecting trips.
@restazonia The level of destruction is amazing and reminds me of what the Carolinas looked like after Hurricane Hugo blasted through. I had the privilege of staying at the Santa Cruz Forest Reserve for several days during my 2015 collecting trip. My two Biotodoma Cupidos came from the Rio Mazan right in front of the research station, and we caught many Corydoras rabauti, blue tetras, and the pair of Ancistrus I kept for a number of years on the property. It's a fantastic place and Devon and his team of volunteers have worked so hard to plant hundreds of trees such as Mahogany to make it a showcase for sustainable tree growing and harvesting practices. Heartbreaking to see it, but also wonderful to see all the fauna that serve as nature's cleanup crew and flora that step into the void created by the storm.
