My name’s Ben. I’m 12 yrs old, and I’ve only been in the aquarium hobby for ten months now. I started out with a goldfish tank . . . then got a small Betta tank . . . began to experiment with some live aquarium plants . . . and then things really got crazy! We now have thirteen tanks, have started breeding various livebearers, African Cichlids, German Blue Rams, Apistogramma Cacatuoides, etc. I even started up a little YouTube channel. And now, (level up) I am really excited to be a member of PVAS! I look forward to learning lots from everyone here. I plan to get involved in the BAP Program. We live waaaaay out in hillbilly western Maryland, so attending meetings is not always easy. But we’re definitely looking forward to coming out to meet Greg Sage in August. Here’s some photos of our tanks . . .

Welcome to PVAS. Nice tanks and great looking fish.
Thanks! Looking forward to geeking out with fellow fish folk!
Beautiful fish and tanks. Are those goldfish really in a planted tank? Those poor plants must be able to grow faster than the fish can eat them!
Welcome to the club.
Thank you! Yes, the water wisteria grows fast and for some reason, the goldfish don't eat our rotala indica (yet). We found that they destroy anacharis. We've tried bamboo and swords in there, but they do not thrive with goldfish. The water wisteria in here grows so fast, that we bring bundles in to trade for store credit at our LFS.
Hi to both of you. Im so excited to see young blood coming in to the hobby-and in such a big way. Its awesome that your Dad was able to get you started. I started out at a very young age as well with goldfish, then moving onto mult tanks of assorted fish. What I did know would have filled a 1 page note, what I didn't know would practically fill a book. I have been in the club now for about 6 years and enjoy every meeting. Let me know wen you arrive at one of the meetings and I will introduce you to some great folks. I am am the membership chair and usually sit behind the membership sign. Your tanks are awesome and I to like the live plants. My goldfish are in a tank with minimal plants. I can only keep Java fern with them. I do, however, buy floating plants at the auction for them to graze on. Right now they are working on eating some guppy grass. Hope to see you soon.
Susan
Thanks so much! I can't wait to meet you. We hope to be there for the August meeting when Greg Sage is the guest speaker.
Very nice tanks! Welcome to PVAS.
Thanks! We're very glad to be part of PVAS. Just started filling out my first BAP report form.
