It is happening more and more frequently in my tanks. The most plausible explanation is that the fish have perfected teleportation.

This morning, I made my first visit to Capital Exotic Fish and wanted to leave a positive review here. It's a very nice store, with a good selection of fish, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. Oh, and Max the greeter dog is a sweetheart. If you're anywhere near Northwest DC, it's worth a visit. Matt

If you can find a pool supply store in your area, pool filter sand is coarser than play sand. Only issue is that you never know what color it is going to be. In my experience, most pool filter sand is white, but that is not always the case.

In my experience, guppy fry with a lot of loss really don't need to be fed for quite some time. Years ago, my wife and I went on a three week trip. I very carefully put auto feeders on all of my tanks. When I returned, I found that the auto feeders had worked in all the tanks but one. The tank with various kinds of fry, including Celestial pearl danio fry and Endler livebearer fry (very similar to guppy fry) hadn't been fed at all. Interestingly, the fry were just fine. If you do decide to use an auto feeder or have your aunt feed the fish, definitely make sure that they don't get overfed. That is more likely to hurt the fry, by degrading the quality of the water.

What were the water parameters, in terms of hardness and PH, if you know?
