Japanese Medaka Ricefish (Oryzias latipes) breeding project (part 2).

I have fry.

As in part 1, I will keep the Rice Fish in a tank for 7 days. They were moved into this tank on Aug 28th and were moved to another tank on September 4th. None of the fish had eggs when I moved them so I assume these fry were laid on Aug 29th. Today is September 9th, so I estimate 11 days from egg to free swimming. I did not see the yolk phase so that is somewhere in the 11 days.

The Rice Fish have been bred to be “baby Koi” and swim near the surface from day 1. Today I have counted 8 fry at the surface and none in the water column. There are 4 fry in the photo.
