Origin of Parents:  Tank raised, Frank Cowherd

These have been colony breeding for me over the past three years

Aquarium Conditions:

pH 7.2

General Hardness: 150 ppm

Average Temperature (F) 72-82 depending on season

Salinity: None

Average Nitrate: less than 40 ppm.

Aquarium Size:  10 Gallon

Water Source:  Rockville town water

Water Changes:  Every two months, 80-90% water change

Filtration System:  Sponge filter---TWO

Additives: tablespoon of crushed coral


Décor:

Live Plants:  Bolbitis, Guppy grass.

Hiding Places:  7 pleco caves and several flat rocks to create plenty of resting and breeding spots.  Also have some drift wood and cholla wood in the tank.

Substrate:  bare bottom

Lighting Type and Timing:  Home depot shop light, 14 hours light, 10 hours dark

 

Food Fed to Parents and How Often*   Tetramin flake food daily, Hikari algae wafers twice per week, Live baby brine shrimp twice a week.  Live black worms every 2-3 weeks.  I also feed blanched zucchini or butternut squash a couple times a week

 

Feeding and raising fry:  Fed like parents.  I have sold a couple batches of these at PVAS  and other auctions.  I like to remove the fry and grow out on other tanks once I can catch them.
