Had a couple of different species many years ago. Males have a little more color in the fins. Kept mine in a 5 gallon tank so it was easier for them to find food. Never saw any aggression. If I remember right they breed in small caves like a pvc tube. Would love to try them again.

Anyone considering this - if you have the room I would recommend considering it. I have had one for a number of years and have found them to be very easy to care for and a lot of fun to have around. When I first got mine I threw in some "feeder" guppies thinking he might eat them. Years later the guppy population is thriving, so if he has eaten some it has been very few, so they can be said to be somewhat fish safe - they generally poke around the bottom looking for food and seem to have very poor eyesight.

I am not able to do anything right now since we are in the process of moving the store, but I will often buy or give store credit for fish at Chico's Natural Pet Market in Falls Church. It will be at least the end of February before our fish system is up and running again.
