2026 Toothbrush Drive  

Goal: 500 or more toothbrushes, with or without toothpaste

Without oral health one cannot achieve general health! For those living along the Amazon River and its tributaries, this statement is so true. Many lack the basic necessities, including toothbrushes, we take for granted.

The PVAS Foundation is the proud sponsor of the 2026 toothbrush drive. Back in 2023 PVAS club members David Snell and Michael Barber hand-carried over 300 toothbrushes for distribution by Project Amazonas. Both directly supported distribution of the supplies to the communities they visited.

This August 2026, both David and Michael are making their final journey to Peru to take part in a Project Amazonas fish survey of the Tapiche Jungle Reserve area and then partake in an MT Amazon Expedition fish collecting trip down from Requena and back to Iquitos.  During the trip they will be distributing toothbrushes to the communities along the way. Any toothbrushes not directly distributed during their two-week visit will be distributed by Project Amazonas during future trips.

The PVAS Foundation is asking all members and participants of the Spring auction to bring one or more child-sized or adult-sized toothbrushes.

If you visit your dentist, please ask about a small toothbrush and/or toothpaste donation.  Amazon.com offers bulk toothbrush purchases.

Dental supplies can also be dropped off at the May and June monthly

meetings.
